I have disabled manual save, and restarted the game, except when I die, I go back to the last regeneration point (which is great), however, when I quit, I go to the last auto-save. It allows the game to be far too forgiving (despite still be quite hard). I think in this circumstance, the save system doesn't really allow me to do this. I would like to have to think about what and where I am going, I want to be able to feel the consequences of accidentally setting of a turret or an alarm or whether or not a particular hack is possible, and being forced to plan ahead in order to complete a particular section and take a bit more care. I would like to add a bit more brutality to my next play through. This somewhat took away the survival element of this survival game. It meant I did not have to worry about regeneration or hacking skills, because I could simply reload if it went wrong, and gave me unlimited opportunities to get it right. That being, if anything goes wrong, the game is extremely forgiving in that you can simply quick load and try again. The reason for this is that during my play through, I found it almost too easy to quick save before any hacking challenge, before walking into a room, before setting off a turret or a camera, or before sneaking past an enemy, or before using too much ammo. Is there a way to change how the game saves? I.e, autosaves after being regenerated, but unable to manually save (I have disabled quick save). There is one thing I would like to change if it's possible. I have just completed SS2 on the base game (on normal mode) and thoroughly enjoyed it and am about to replay it on hard mode. I am looking for a particular way to edit System shock 2.
